Dhaka, Dec. 24 -- : Bangladesh Chief Advisor's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, on Wednesday reiterated the interim government's stand on the matter of suspension of Awami League from participating in the forthcoming general elections. The response has come as parliamentarians from the US and the UK had expressed doubts on the legitamacy of the elections without participation of leading political parties in the country.
Commenting on the highly controversial decision by the interim government to bar the Awami League from contesting the upcoming polls in Bangladesh, Alam said: "Regarding the Awami League, our position is clear," he said, adding that Awami League's activities and its registration as a political party are suspended indefinitely...
