Kolkata, April 23 -- union Home Minister Amit Shah intensified the BJP's campaign in West Bengal with a high-voltage rally in Dum Dum North, launching a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress over issues of women's safety and alleged political intimidation ahead of the polls.

Addressing party supporters, Shah accused the state government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of failing to ensure security for women. Referring to incidents ranging from Sandeshkhali to reported cases in educational institutions, he alleged that "women have faced repeated atrocities," while claiming that ruling party cadres were intimidating residents in various localities during the election period.
