Thiruvananthapuram, April 14 -- Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Tuesday said that B. R. Ambedkar's "nation-first" ideology is the need of the hour, stressing that his vision remains highly relevant in contemporary times.

The Governor was presiding over a lecture titled "Re-reading Dr. Ambedkar" delivered by Devan Ramachandran at Lok Bhavan as part of the 135th Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations.

Recalling Ambedkar as the principal architect of the Indian Constitution, Arlekar said he rose above the circumstances of his birth to make unparalleled contributions to the nation. He described Ambedkar as a man of firm resolve and convictions whose work transcended partisan and sectarian boundaries.
