Prayagraj, May 3 -- The Allahabad High Court has given a major relief to Samajwadi Party Ghazipur's MP Afzal Ansari, in connection with his controversial statement about the usage of marijuana at the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela.
The court has granted an interim relief from his arrest. The order was passed by a single bench of Justice Vikram D Chauhan on Friday.
The court directed Afzal Ansari to file a discharge application in the trial court within three weeks and disposed of the petition.
The court stated that if such a discharge application is filed by Afzal Ansari, the relevant court will consider it before framing charges.
The court also granted MP Afzal Ansari's lawyer's request to apply for bail or anticipatory bail in the trial court....
