Lucknow, Feb. 19 -- The Allahabad High Court's Lucknow bench has taken a tough stance against the manufacture, sale, and use of "Chinese manjha," observing that government orders alone are insufficient to curb the menace and that a proper legal framework must be enacted.
A division bench comprising Justices Rajan Roy and A.K. Chaudhary issued the direction while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by advocate Motilal Yadav on Wednesday.
The court emphasised that a comprehensive statutory ban is necessary to effectively prohibit lead-coated and nylon manjhas, commonly referred to as Chinese manjha.
