Lucknow, Oct. 5 -- The Uttar Pradesh Health Department has become alert following reports of death of children after consuming cough syrup consumption in some states, official sources said here today.
Taking the matter seriously, Assistant Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Tiwari has issued a warning to all districts. The order directs all drug inspectors to stop the sale of the batch in question and send samples to the State Drug Laboratory for testing.
The order issued by the Assistant Commissioner said that ColdrIF Syrup manufactured by Mesures Sreshan Pharmaceuticals, Sunguvachatram, Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu is suspected to contain toxic chemicals such as diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol.
