New Delhi, Jan. 26 -- Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday described this year's Republic Day as "unique" in independent India's history, pointing to the coincidence of the date and the year both being 26.
In a message shared on his official WhatsApp channel, Yadav extended special greetings to the nation and urged citizens to take a pledge to safeguard democracy and the Constitution.
Calling it an unprecedented moment, Yadav said, "Swatantra Bharat ke itihaas mein yeh ek anokha Ganatantra Diwas hai, jab tareekh bhi 26 hai aur saal bhi 26 hai."
