New Delhi/ Ranchi, Feb. 24 -- A chartered air ambulance crashed shortly after departing from Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi officials confirmed on Monday.

Preliminary reports indicated that the aircraft had lost contact while flying between Palamu and Latehar.

However, officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) later confirmed that the private air ambulance had crashed in Kathiyatu village under the Simaria police station limits in Chatra district.

According to initial reports, seven individuals were on board the aircraft at the time of the crash.

The air ambulance was scheduled to arrive in Delhi by 7 pm.
