AIKS demands action for fenced-out farmers of bordering Tripura
Agartala, April 19 -- The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), Tripura state committee farmers' wing of CPI(M), has demanded immediate action from the state government for the farmers residing in the villages along Indo-Bangladesh border.
AIKS state secretary Pabitra Kar said, "The farmers, whose lands were left outside of barbed wire fencing are facing problems in movement through BSF checking gate. More than one lakh acres of agricultural lands are lying on the other side of fencing, and at least 70 per cent of the land is lying abandoned."
He alleged that farmers were not being allowed to carry their cattle, power tillers, and other farming tools outside the fencing.
