Chennai, Feb. 22 -- Having resumed his next phase of people outreach programe ahead of the key Assembly elections, the main Opposition AIADMK promised to hike the financial assistance for the fishermen during the annual ban period from the present Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000.
Addressing the voters at the northern Chennai suburb of Ponneri, AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami announced that fishermen's relief during the annual fishing ban season would be raised from the current Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000 once AIADMK returns to power.
With elections expected in April, EPS urged voters to deliver a massive mandate to the AIADMK-led NDA .
