Agra, Dec. 14 -- Agra witnessed a major crackdown on cyber crime as the Cyber Crime Police exposed an organized gang involved in cheating people of nearly Rs 50 crore through a fake cryptocurrency website and mobile application.
The gang lured thousands of victims, including women, youths, and businesspersons, by promising huge returns on crypto investments. The mastermind of the gang has been arrested, while several accomplices are still absconding, police said on Saturday.
According to the police investigation, the accused created a fraudulent crypto currency website and mobile app with a name resembling that of a reputed foreign company to make it appear legitimate.
