Keylong, Jan. 14 -- In bone-chilling temperatures ranging between minus 25 degrees and minus 30 degrees a life-wrenching rescue operation was carried out on Tuesday and saved four stranded tourists from the jaws of death in the high-altitude region of Lahaul Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh.
The operation highlighted the extreme risks involved in winter travel across high snow passes and the growing tendency of tourists, particularly youth, to venture into prohibited no-man zones despite repeated advisories. Officials noted with concern that such reckless travel not only endangers the lives of tourists but also puts rescue teams at severe risk.
