Aizawl, Aug. 3 -- Mizoram continues to grapple with a severe outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) that has swept through the state since mid-March, killing 7,110 pigs and impacting 2,781 families across 116 villages and localities in seven districts, according to officials from the state's Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department.

The spread of the highly contagious porcine disease shows no signs of abating. On Sunday alone, 19 pig deaths were recorded-13 in Khawzawl district and 6 in Champhai district. Additionally, 25 pigs were culled that same day, with Champhai accounting for 14 and Khawzawl for 11.

So far, authorities have culled 2,835 pigs in an attempt to contain the outbreak.
