Moscow, Aug. 1 -- Afghanistan and Turkmenistan have signed a contract for the development and expansion of the Torghundi Inland Port in Afghanistan's Herat province, Tolo News agency reported today.
Under the agreement, the initial investment for the port expansion totaled $5 million. The project includes constructing warehouses and designing new facilities for commercial cargo loading, the news agency reported.
The Afghanistan's Ministry of Public Works has confirmed that the deal was signed between its Railway Directorate and Turkmenistan's state railway construction company Demiryollary Gurlysyk (Turkmen Railways Construction), the agency reported.
