Kabul, May 26 -- Personnel of counter-terrorism have discovered a large amount of weapons and ammunition in western Afghanistan's Herat province, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said in a statement on Monday.
The contrabands, which included 20 pistols, four Kalashnikovs, eight hunting arms, a large quantity of cartridges and bullets and other illegally preserved military equipment, have been seized during operations in different districts of the province over the past six months, the statement said.
Without furnishing details on whether anyone was arrested on charges of keeping illegal weapons and ammunition, the statement added that the military tools had been handed over to the relevant authorities.
