Patna, June 27 -- Four private power companies, including Adani Power, JSW Energy, Torrent Power and Bajaj Energy's Lalitpur Power have evinced interest in setting up a 2400 MW thermal power plant in Pirpainti of Bhagalpur in Bihar, at a cost of Rs Rs 28,000 crore .

Official sources said here today that three units of 800 MW each will be set up on 1,200 acres of land as part of the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process for which Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL), Patna will be the nodal agency.

The sources said the four private companies have submitted their applications for setting up the plant.

Notably, the Bihar cabinet at its February 4 meeting had given approval for the project.
