Sangli, Dec. 5 -- The Action Committee against the renaming of Islampur town to Ishwarpur in this district, today filed a plea in Kolhapur Circuit Bench of Bombay High Court after the central and state governments announced two different names for Islampur town -- Ishwarpur and Uran-Ishwarpur respectively.
In a press conference today, Shakir Tamboli, president of the Action Committee Against Renaming, raised questions on the notification of the goverment on renaming, and said that the central government announced the name for Islampur as 'Ishwarpur' and the state government sent a letter to the municipal administration with the name of ' Uran-Ishwarpur'.
