Shillong, March 9 -- An accused in a theft case in Meghalaya who was on the run for more than four years after escaping from lawful custody ran out of luck after Kerala Police tracked him, police said on Sunday.

Ranjan Borgohain of Duliajan in Assam's Dibrugarh district was arrested by Meghalaya Police allegedly for stealing from a godown at Khanapara area in Meghalaya's Ri-Bhoi district

escaped from custody on November 20, 2020 and was evading arrest since then, Vivekanand Singh Rathore, the district police chief of Ri-Bhoi district, said.

The accused was traced in Kerala earlier this week and was working as a labourer in a plywood factory in the Vallam area of Kerala's Perumbavoor area.
