New Delhi, Feb. 5 -- Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra expressed pride after being chosen as a torchbearer for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, calling the moment a celebration of unity and the human spirit.
"Honoured to carry the Olympic flame at Milano Cortina 2026. A symbol of unity, perseverance, and shared human aspiration," Bindra wrote in a post on X.
Bindra was selected as a torch-bearer in October last year. The 25th Winter Olympics will officially begin on Friday.
The first medals are scheduled to be awarded on Saturday, while the Games will conclude on February 22 with the closing ceremony at the Verona Olympic Arena.
