New Delhi, Feb. 2 -- 10 year old Aarit Kapil, one of India's most promising chess prodigy, won the 1st Shri PL Sharma memorial open international tournament on Sunday.

The two day FIDE rated chess tournament was held at Sadhu Vaswani international School for girls in Shantiniketan in the national capital.

The tournament format was based on the Swiss system with 9 rounds being played.

Aarit won the tournament, while Alankar Sawai Vandan finished in second place and Varshney Aryan was third.

Aarit' s latest win comes close on heals of his Delhi State Under 15 Championships 2026 victory in January.

In August, 2025 he had won the 38th National U11 National Open Championships.
