Majid JahangirPahalgam, April 21 -- As tourists return to Pahalgam, the overall numbers continue to stay low, with several key sites still closed, including Baisaran meadow, where last year, terrorists killed 25 tourists and a local resident, doing little to restore confidence among travellers.
The April 22 attack not only claimed 26 lives but also pushed India and Pakistan to the brink of war. Though the situation has since eased, the continued closure of Baisaran meadow, also known as "Mini Switzerland", about 6 km from Pahalgam, has done little to restore traveller confidence.
Baisaran was among dozens of tourist resorts shut down last year following the terror attack, many of which have since reopened over the past year.
