Agartala, March 10 -- In a significant judgement, the Sessions Judge of Ambassa in Tripura's Dhalai district has convicted 47-year-old Bijoy Debbarma, a Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawan who hails from the Khasiapunji locality, as guilty for his involvement in a fatal shooting incident at the Tankarai TSR Post in Longtharai Valley in 2013.
Debbarma has been sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 10,000 under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). If he fails to pay the fine, he will serve an additional six months of rigorous imprisonment.
