Srinagar, Aug. 23 -- A day after the order, the Jammu and Kashmir government today took over the management of 215 schools allegedly affiliated with the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT).

According to officials, the takeover proceedings of private schools were supervised by magistrates amid tight security.

Most of the schools were handed over to local authorities from the Education department. The academic activities remained unaffected and classes were conducted as usual, they informed.
