Ratnagiri, Aug. 12 -- Advocate Asim Sarode today said that over 80,000 cases are pending against political leaders across the country, highlighting what he called "large-scale criminality in politics."

During a press conference in Chiplun, Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra, Sarode stated that 80,665 cases against politicians are pending nationwide. He noted a lack of coordination between agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the police, which he said leads to cases being registered without proper follow-up.

Sarode said criminal cases have been filed against 251 Members of Parliament (MPs), with 170 of these MPs facing serious criminal charges.
