Hazaribag, March 26 -- Police conducted raids at 52 locations in Hazaribag ahead of Ram Navami and seized illegal liquor, officials said on Thursday.
The operation was carried out by six teams on the instructions of the Superintendent of Police as part of measures to ensure a peaceful and liquor-free environment during the festival, officials said.
During the raids, 199 bottles of illegal liquor were seized from a mobile shop and a grocery store in the Nagwan area, while large quantities of locally brewed liquor and raw materials were also recovered and destroyed, officials said.
Police said hotels, roadside eateries and other suspected locations were also checked during the drive.
