Lucknow, April 5 -- The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) of Uttar Pradesh has taken major action as part of a special campaign being conducted across the state, immediately suspending the operations of 49 blood banks.
This action was taken after serious irregularities were discovered during inspections in various districts.
Under the campaign, which began on March 30, a total of 201 blood banks operating in 43 districts were inspected. Of these, 159 blood banks in 18 districts were inspected, and serious deficiencies were found at 49 centres. Consequently, all blood collection and distribution activities at these centres were suspended.
