Jammu, Feb. 18 -- Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday released an official yearly data on crackdown against the bovine smuggling launched under Operation Kamdhenu.

As per the data of year-long crackdown across District Jammu from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024, police said that 425 smugglers were arrested, 3434 animals were released and 360 vehicles used in illegal transportation were also seized.

The bovine smuggling has been a longstanding challenge, with perpetrators frequently using unauthorized routes, forging transportation permits, and evading law enforcement by adopting new tactics, said the official communique.
