Kannur, Feb. 27 -- A 40-year-old tribal youth was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Aralam farm in the early hours on Friday.

According to police, the deceased was identified as Aneesh (40), son of Soman, a resident of the 10th Block of Aralam farm, the lone rehabilitation Centre in the state.

The incident occurred around 0400 am, when Aneesh and his family stepped out of their house after spotting an elephant near their home.

His wife, Ambili, and son, Adhi Krishnan, narrowly escaped when the elephant charged at them and ran back inside the house.
