Thiruvananthapuram, March 6 -- In a significant step towards promoting women's participation in the construction sector, 25 women from five panchayats under the Chavara Block Panchayat in Kollam district have become Kerala's first batch of certified women excavator operators.
The women completed a three-month specialised training programme conducted by the Indian Institute of Infrastructure and Construction (IIIC), functioning under the Kerala State Labour Department at Chavara, in collaboration with Volvo Construction Equipment India as part of a women's empowerment initiative.
