Visakhapatnam, Feb. 20 -- Chief of Naval Staff Dinesh Kumar Tripathi on Friday asserted that the Indian Ocean is "not merely a geostrategic space but a shared strategic zone" whose stability underpins global growth and collective well-being, as India assumed the Chairmanship of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) after 16 years.

Admiral Tripathi took over the chair at the 9th edition of the IONS Conclave of Chiefs, succeeding Pairote Fuengchan, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy.
