Chennai, Feb. 17 -- The Interim Budget presented in the Tamil Nadu Assemblyon Tuesday by Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu said the 16th FinanceCommission has meted out unfair treatment to Tamil Nadu and is report has beena great disappointment to the State.
He said the 16th Finance Commission had recently submitted its report and theAction taken report was placed by the union Government in the Parliament onFebruary 1, 2026.
Noting that the Commission's report has been a great disappointment to the Stateof Tamil Nadu, Mr Thennarasu said even when all States had unequivocally soughtfor a higher share in the divisible pool of central taxes, the 16th Finance Commissionhas recommended to retain the share at 41 per cent.
