Agartala, March 13 -- The BJP Legislative Party in Tripura last night, hours before commencing the budget session, announced the name of senior legislator Rampada Jamatia for the post of Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.
The proposal was made during a meeting of the BJP's legislative party in the official residence of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha. The Chief Minister expressed strong confidence in Rampada Jamatia's ability to effectively lead the proceedings of the Assembly.
The Budget session of the Tripura Assembly began today with the ritual address of the Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu. The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) has decided to hold the session till March 25. The house was adjourned after the Governor's address.
