New Delhi, Dec. 19 -- A total of 11,776 challans were issued against polluting and non-compliant vehicles in the past 24 hours as part of an intensified crackdown on emission sources across Delhi, officials said on Friday.

On the cleanliness and dust-mitigation front, municipal agencies removed a total of 12,164.88 metric tonnes of garbage during the period. Mechanical road sweepers covered 2,068.81 km, while water sprinkling was carried out over 1,830 km of city roads to curb dust emissions.

In addition, anti-smog guns operated across more than 5,528 km, with 160 such machines deployed at major construction sites for continuous dust suppression.
