Washington, July 9 -- The death toll after the flood in Texas reached 109 people, while another 161 remain missing, Governor Gregg Abbott said on Tuesday.
"The numbers that I have is that there are 94 fatalities associated with this flooding event in this area. Separate from that, in other flooding events in other parts of the state of Texas, there is another 15 fatalities for a total of 109," Abbott told reporters in the city of Kerrville.
He pointed out that there are 161 people who are known to be missing in Kerr County.
The US National Weather Service announced a state of emergency in several cities in Kerr County, Texas, due to flash flooding.
