Ahmedabad, March 9 -- New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner said his team can take pride in reaching the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 despite suffering a heavy 96-run defeat to the India national cricket team in the title clash on Sunday.

New Zealand, who had defeated South Africa in the semifinals, were outplayed by tournament co-hosts India in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

"I guess it's not ideal, losing semis and finals, but when you get to this stage, you're coming up against teams that are playing very good cricket," ICC quoted Santner as saying after the match.
