Kolkata, Nov. 13 -- The 31st Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) came to a grand close on Thursday evening, celebrating a weeking of powerful storytelling, diverse voices and cinematic brilliance from across the globe.

The Cuban feature 'To the West in Zapata', directed by David Bhim, emerged as a major winner, bagging both the Golden Royal Bengal Award for Best Film and FIPRESCI Award in the International competition on 'Innovation in Moving Images'.

Sri Lanka's Lalith Rathnayake won the Best Director Award for 'Riverstone', while Croatia's 'Beautiful Evening, Beautiful Day' (Lijepa Vecer Lijep Dan) by Ivona Juka received the Special Jury Award for its creative storytelling.
