Thiruvananthapuram, April 29 -- Amid the growing public concern over frequent electricity disruptions across the state, Kerala's Power Minister K. Krishnankutty on Wednesday asserted that the state is not enforcing scheduled power cuts, instead attributing the outages to system-triggered breakdowns caused by excessive demand.

Clarifying the situation, the minister said the interruptions are a result of "load-induced tripping" a safeguard mechanism that automatically shuts down sections of the grid when electricity demand overshoots capacity, preventing wider system failure.
