Shimla, Jan. 4 -- Himachal Pradesh High Court has sought detailed responses from the State government and civic authorities while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) recently challenging the leasing of a multistorey parking near Himachal Tourism lift at Shimla cart road.
The matter was taken up by a Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice G.S. Sandhawalia and Justice Jiya Lal Bhardwaj, in CWPIL No. 143 of 2025 (Jai Lal vs State of Himachal Pradesh and others) recently.
Taking serious note of inconvenience to the general public, the Court further recorded that Shimla Tolls & Projects Pvt. Ltd. was operating the seven-storeyed parking facility and that there was "no existing provision of a lift for the benefit of the general public,...
