Dhanbad, Aug. 23 -- Dhanbad district administration has decided to launch a "No Helmet, No Petrol" campaign for two-wheeler riders in an effort to curb rising road accidents. Petrol pumps will deny fuel to those not wearing helmets.
The move comes after the district transport officer reported that between January and July this year, the district recorded 236 road accidents, of which 135 were fatal.
Another 76 accidents left people seriously injured. Over-speeding accounted for 102 cases, followed by accidents due to wrong-side driving, overtaking, poor lighting, drunk driving, minors behind the wheel, and mobile phone use.
