Thiruvananthapuram, Jan. 17 -- Kerala Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran on Friday alleged that communal fanatics had sparked the controversy over the promotional 'beef' tweet of State Tourism Department.

Addressing a press conference here, the Minister said a needless controversy was created by communal fanatics as nobody in Kerala links food with religion.

The Minister was reacting to Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Vinod Bansal's criticism that the tweet hurts religious sentiments of cow worshippers.

VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal on Twitter said "Is this tweet meant for promoting tourism or promoting Beef? Isn't it hearting sentiments of crores of cow worshipers? Is this tweet generated from the pious land of Shankara...
