New Delhi, Feb. 5 -- A nationwide awareness drive under the 'Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat' campaign has reached over six crore citizens as part of efforts to make India free of child marriage.

The initiative has also seen strong public participation, with more than 28 lakh people registering pledges against the practice through dedicated online portals, reflecting growing community engagement across the country, union Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi stated while giving a reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.

The minister said that the Government of India launched the national campaign 'Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat on 27th November 2024, with the objective of making India child-marriage-free.
