Dhaka, May 23 -- Speakers at a youth rally on Friday emphasised the need for pedestrian-and-bicycle-friendly roads and infrastructure to combat daily traffic congestion and reduce the loss of working hours in the capital.
They said walking and cycling can be sustainable solutions to Dhaka's traffic woes and highlighted the importance of enacting and implementing a road safety law to ensure safe road infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists.
The event was organised jointly by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), Dhaka Ahsania Mission, and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society as part of the observance of Global Road Safety Week 2025.
