, Aug. 8 -- A young man was beaten to death in Singra upazila of Natore on Friday after being accused of stealing a pigeon from a local farm.
The victim Akram Hossain, 20, was the son of the late Yunus Ali from the Mantapara area under Singra Municipality.
According to police, the incident stems from the alleged theft of a pigeon from the farm of Mithu, an agricultural entrepreneur in the Patkol area, about a week ago. Mithu reportedly blamed Akram for the theft and called for an arbitration (salish) to resolve the matter.
However, when Akram did not attend the arbitration, Mithu and his associates picked him up and beahim mercilessly. They later left him by the roadside near his home.
