Chapainawabganj, March 29 -- A woman was beaten to death allegedly by her husband and his second wife following a family dispute in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj early Saturday.

The victim, Ruliara Begum, was the first wife of Shariful Islam of Shyampur-Sahapara Nuresh More village and mother of five children.

According to locals, Shariful Islam returned home from Dhaka on Friday night bringing Eid gifts for his second wife Khirsha Begum and taking two apples with him to meet his first wife Ruliara Begum.
