Dhaka, June 20 -- Barguna and Magura Districts made a good start in the BFF-UNICEF U-16 National Women's Football Championship, a talent hunt tournament, beating their rivals on the opening day at the Shamsul Huda Stadium in Jashore on Thursday.

Borguna outplayed Patuakhali by 3-0 goals. Lamia struck two and Ferdous netted one for the winners.

In the day's other match, Magura beat Satkhira by 2-1 goals at the same venue. Bristy and Orpira scored for Magura while Farzana netted the lone goal for the losers.

A total of 39 district teams out of 64, split into six zones -- Gopalganj, Jashore, Khagrachhari, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Rajshahi - are taking part in the preliminary round of the championship on the knockout basis.
