, April 29 -- Bangladesh appeared in control for much of the second day of the Chattogram Test thanks to a century from Shadman Islam, but late wickets handed Zimbabwe a way back as the hosts closed on 291 for 7, leading by just 64 runs.

Shadman starred with a fluent 120, marking his second Test hundred and his first at home.

He shared a century opening stand with Anamul Haque (39), giving Bangladesh their first 100-plus opening partnership in 33 innings.

Mominul Haque (33) also chipped in with a steady hand as Bangladesh built a strong platform.However, a series of poor decisions and a disciplined Zimbabwean bowling effort derailed Bangladesh's progress.
