, Feb. 4 -- A septuagenarian woman was reportedly beaten to death by her neighbor over repayment of loan in Jashore district.

The incident took place at Pipragachhi village in Bagachra upazila on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Rahima Khatin, 70, wife of Nabisaddin Gazi of the village.

Quoting local people, Rabiul Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sharsha Police Station, said Opu Hossain, 30, son of Abdus Samad took some money from Mizanur, son of Rahima.

The members of two families used to lock into altercation over the issue.

On Tuesday noon, an altercation ensued between Rahim and Opu over the issue and at one stage, Opu beat Rahima up and dragged her on a street and trashed her, leaving Rahima unconscious.
