Dhaka, June 24 -- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has said there are currently no conditions for restoring the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), but emphasized the need to intensify diplomatic efforts.
Speaking to the Russian newspaper Izvestia ahead of US President Donald Trump's claim that Iran and Israel had agreed to a ceasefire, Ryabkov expressed doubt over the deal's revival.
"At the moment, I do not see conditions for restoring the [Iran deal]," Ryabkov told Izvestia. "But this does not mean abandoning diplomacy. On the contrary, now is the time to redouble efforts to reach decisions that could help stabilize the situation."
