, Dec. 7 -- Graduates of recognised Qawmi Madrasah holding the Dawra-e-Hadith degree will be eligible to serve as marriage registrars (Qazi) from now on, said Law Adviser Asif Nazrul.

He shared the information in a post on his verified Facebook account on Sunday.

He wrote previously this opportunity was limited to those holding Alim certificates.

The Ministry of Law has amended the law to extend the eligibility to recognised Qawmi Madrasah graduates.

Earlier, on August 5, Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain had sent a letter urging the Law Adviser to prioritise granting marriage registrar licenses to Dawra-e-Hadith certificate holders.
