Dhaka, Feb. 21 -- To promote the rights of four million domestic workers in Bangladesh, Oxfam in Bangladesh is set to organize 'Oxfam Run' on Saturday at Dhaka's Hatirjheel.
The event, themed 'Advocacy Beyond Walls,' will bring together over 2,000 participants advocating for equality and legal recognition of domestic workers.
Supported by Global Affairs Canada, the run aims to push for the recognition of domestic workers as 'labour' under Bangladesh's labour law. Oxfam is calling for the implementation of the 2015 Policy on Domestic Workers' Protection and Welfare, ratification of ILO Convention 189, and stronger legal safeguards for domestic workers.
